Thank you for your interest in VIVAZ. We think the quality, design, and value of our products speaks for itself, but there is another value not readily apparent.

VIVAZ was formed in response to the quality and environmental concerns of global sourcing of products. We felt that quality, handcrafted products could still be found at reasonable cost closer to home. Closer sourcing should result in reduced consumption of fossil fuels and lower shipping costs. And if they could be made from reclaimed materials, using environmentally-sensitive methods, they should be even more attractive.

Our metal and glass products are handmade in Mexico from recycled aluminum and glass. Our aluminum products, called pewter in Mexico, are made in the centuries-old method of sand casting. Fine sand is sifted and then packed around a pattern in a wooden frame. The pattern is removed, and molten, recycled aluminum is poured into the void. The rough casting is removed when cool, and the sand, the wooden frame, and the pattern are all used again in the next casting. Excess material removed from the rough casting in the finishing process is also reused, melted down and poured in subsequent castings. Our glass products are hand blown from recycled materials as well, using the same methods used for centuries around the world in the production of fine glassware. Cleaner burning natural gas is the manufacturing heat source for both the aluminum and the glass. Their manufacture provides a career path for employees from laborer to apprentice to master. Their purchase supports local economies and allows buyers to participate in the global effort to reclaim, recycle, and reuse.

We reuse packaging materials whenever possible and ask our customers to reuse or recycle those materials as best they can.

VIVAZ products are California Prop. 65 compliant. An independent California laboratory has found samples of our metal and glass products to contain no trace of lead or cadmium.

VIVAZ glass is dishwasher safe.

VIVAZ aluminum pieces are designed for serving and will hold their beautiful luster indefinitely with a few simple precautions.

Do not place aluminum in the dishwasher or microwave.

Handwash in warm, soapy water soon after use.

Coat lightly with cooking oil or spray when serving salads, or salty or acidic foods.

Avoid prolonged storage of foods.

Our aluminum will hold heat and cold. It may be chilled, or heated to 300°F prior to use as a serving piece – do not cook in our metal products.

Cutting on aluminum, or any metal, will scratch the finish.

Our products are designed for today’s casual lifestyle, and we don’t claim to have all the answers in the effort to reduce our impact on our environment. But we do think you can agree that VIVAZ products are both beautiful and sensible.
